3. Composition of the sealant mix
3.1 Constituents
Standard glasses for food packaging are obtained from different combinations of three families of main constituents, namely :
vitreux network trainers ;
fluxes ;
stabilizers.
We also find :
refining (elimination of small gas bubbles within the glass);
colorants (iron chromite, nickel oxide, cobalt oxide, etc.);
bleaches (cobalt, selenium, etc.);
Reducers (coke, slag) ;
or oxidizing agents.
