The eco-design approach presented in this article is based on the principles of the ISO/TR Environmental Management standard – Integration of environmental aspects into product design and development.

Ecodesign fundamentals

Multi-stage: consider the entire life cycle from "cradle to grave" or even "cradle to cradle".

Multicriteria: consider all environmental impacts on air, water and soil.

Multidimensional: integrating the environmental dimension into design methods in the same way as quality, costs, deadlines, safety, etc.

Multi-actor: mobilize the right players at the various stages of the project in a spirit of dialogue and partnership.

Evaluate: use appropriate evaluation methods and tools.
