4. Confrontation with expert judgement

Once the acquisition and processing chain was operational, it became necessary to compare it with the technicians' judgement in order to :

  • collect a database of test images ;

  • develop the cleanliness measurement, based on the experience of experts ;

  • develop automatic membrane classification.

4.1 Setting up a database

In order to correlate the system's results with the technicians' qualitative assessments, seven experts were brought together on the same day, in the same place, to work on a database of images of 45 membranes from various sugar factories.
