INTRODUCTION
Created in 1994, the French Accreditation Committee (Cofrac) is responsible for assessing and certifying the competence and impartiality of the organizations it accredits, and for obtaining European and international recognition of their services.
As a signatory to the multilateral mutual recognition agreements set up by European and international accreditation organizations, Cofrac helps companies gain access to international markets. Accreditation also represents a guarantee of confidence, available to companies, public authorities, consumers and citizens.
Its assessments, carried out in application of internationally accepted standards, concern testing, analysis and calibration laboratories, certifiers of management systems, products, services and people, and inspection bodies. Today, Cofrac manages over three hundred accreditations for calibration laboratories and over one thousand five hundred accreditations for testing laboratories.
