3. National system for connection to the SI international system of units

3.1 Connection system structure

In the new context, while LNE continues to establish and maintain national standards, Cofrac's "laboratories" section is responsible for assessing, recognizing and accrediting the technical competence of calibration laboratories.

In concrete terms, the calibration chains (figure 2 ) are run and coordinated jointly by LNE and Cofrac. This system ensures and demonstrates, through an unbroken chain of comparisons, the connection and traceability to the International System of Units (SI) of all measurement standards and equipment, reference materials and measurements carried out in France.
