1. Sweeping principle
Scanning a plasma display consists of a succession of operations, the aim of which is to generate, in space and time, the light corresponding to the image to be displayed. Scanning is then applied cyclically: the duration of an elementary scan generally corresponds to the duration of an image, also known as frame time.
Scanning a plasma display consists of three basic operations:
cell reset (RAZ): the purpose of this operation is to bring each cell to a defined state in preparation for the addressing operation. It should be pointed out that in a plasma display, each cell can be considered as a bistable element, able to assume only the "on" or "off" state. Thus, resetting to zero will force the cell to assume the "off" state, whatever its initial state;
