5. Interpretation of leakage field maps

Once the quantitative mapping of the leakage magnetic field produced by the sample has been obtained, the next step is to extract information about the magnetic texture under study. The main obstacle to overcome is that there is no bijective correspondence between the magnetization pattern and the magnetic field distribution it produces.
