IEC 61499 function blocks consist of event inputs and outputs and data inputs and outputs:
An IEC 61499 function block is represented by a box with an upper section representing the execution control scheme and a lower section representing data processing. Three names are indicated in a block: the name of the instance at the top, the name of the functional block in the center, and the name of the resource in which the block is declared at the bottom.
