3. IEC 61499 composite function block format

Composite IEC 61499 function blocks are defined in IEC 61499 FBDs calling standard IEC 61499 function blocks, basic function blocks and composite function blocks to perform the required tasks. Composite function blocks are defined in the IEC 61499 FBD editor.

An IEC 61499 composite function block functions as a function block network where the nodes are basic and/or composite function blocks and their parameters, and where the branches are data connections and event connections.

The following example demonstrates the E_CYCLE composite function block.
