Unlike ultrasound or eddy current, which are essentially surface or shallow inspection methods, X-ray tomography has no limit to the depth of its investigations, since the number of slices can be increased without constraint.
Lastly, it complements techniques such as neutronography, because the material domains investigated by these two methods, while they may sometimes overlap, are generally very different.
A reliable tool that is becoming increasingly widespread, although the number of installations is still much lower than that of other NDT techniques, X-ray tomography is used in a wide variety of industrial sectors.
