
1. Definitions and units
We feel it necessary to remind you of a few definitions, as well as the units and symbols we'll be using in this article.
Calorimeter: according to Calvet, a calorimeter is a container in which thermal phenomena to be measured are produced.
Adiabatic calorimeter: this type of calorimeter does not exchange heat with the outside world. The heat produced is used to raise the temperature of its contents: ΔH = CΔT.
Isothermal calorimeter: the heat produced escapes to the outside (Bunsen type). It is used to melt the mass of material being measured.
