1. Nanomaterials

Nanomaterials (NM) or nano-objects are defined as objects whose size in at least one of their dimensions is between 1 and 100 nm. . Nanomaterials include nanofilms or nanoplates (with at least one dimension in this size range), nanotubes (with at least two dimensions) and nanoparticles (with three dimensions between 1 and 100 nm). This terminology is mainly used in materials science. On the other hand, the term colloid describes any entity dispersed in a medium and whose size is between 1 nm and 1 µm in at least one of its three dimensions.
