5. Costs and benefits of reducing transport noise

Noise, and more particularly transport noise, represents a cost for the community. On the one hand, there is the cost of reducing or even eliminating it, for example in the order of 6 to 7 billion euros for a program to eliminate noise black spots on roads (850,000 homes to be soundproofed) and railways (62,000 homes to be soundproofed) .
