5. Discussion and outlook
In this section, we begin by discussing the advantages and limitations of eco-driving, based in particular on an analysis of the discrepancies between theoretical and actual consumption. We will then look at how eco-driving could become part of a form of education for sustainable mobility, and play an explicit role in the energy transition.
As technical progress continues, we are seeing ever-lower theoretical vehicle energy consumption, with ever-more efficient vehicles, even if this phenomenon needs to be put into perspective in relation to the increase in vehicle volumes and weights. New approaches to training are also more sensitive to the phenomenon of unlearning, and focus on educating drivers, which improves their effectiveness over time.
