6. Thermoplastic PU polyurethane adhesives
These adhesives come in two forms: solvent-based and aqueous emulsions.
6.1 Solvent-based adhesives, based on flexible non-reactive polyurethanes
Types DESMOCOLL Ò from BAYER, PEARLSTICK Ò from Spanish company MERQUINSA... These raw materials are dissolved in fast-evaporating solvents (ethyl acetate, ketones, aliphatic hydrocarbons, etc.).
To use these adhesives, they are coated as a single bond (on only one of the materials to be joined) or as a double bond, part of the solvent is allowed to evaporate, the adhesive film is reactivated by heating (to around 60-90°C), joined and pressed for a few seconds.
