1. Photophysics of organic molecules for lasers

Organic lasers, like all types of laser, are based on three essential elements: a gain medium, in this case composed of organic molecules, an optical cavity for laser oscillation, and an external energy supply system called a pump [E 4 020v2] . We will briefly review these elements in the context of organic lasers, with particular emphasis on the specific gain medium that gives these lasers most of their original properties.
