Solid Oxide Electrolyzer Cell (SOEC)
Electrolyzer with a solid oxide ceramic electrolyte, where electrical conduction is ensured by the mobility of O 2– ions. SOECs are related to SOFCs, with identical materials, but operate under opposite conditions.
Hydrogen-storing organic liquid; Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier (LOHC)
Organic compound creating weak bonds with hydrogen, capable of absorbing and releasing it through chemical reactions at moderate temperatures and pressures (150-320°C, 30-50 bar). This technology requires the presence of catalysts. Standard organic compounds are toluene-based and can be toxic. LOHCs can therefore be used as storage media for hydrogen in liquid form without cryogenics.
