3. Air pollution control

This section presents two types of concrete functionalization that can improve air quality by adsorbing and/or mineralizing nitrogen oxides (NOx) (Box 4) . These functionalizations have been developed over the last two decades and are still the subject of numerous studies to demonstrate their effectiveness and durability in urban environments. However, we haven't mentioned reactivity with volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which are mainly pollutants in the air inside buildings (where there is little exposed concrete).
