biocompatible; biocompatible
A material that is compatible with the biological tissues of living organisms, i.e. not rejected by the immune system.
biodegradable; biodegradable
Qualifies a material that can be degraded by a series of successive or concomitant physical, chemical and biological phenomena, resulting in a reorganization of the biomass, a release of carbon dioxide (and/or methane), water and energy (in the form of heat).
bioresorbable; bioresorbable
Qualifies a material that can be eliminated by the organism after bioresorption.
biosourcé; biobased or biosourced
Qualifies a material derived (in whole or in part) from the transformation of biomass, which in no way predicts its suitability for biodegradation....
