5.1 Miscibility and compatibility between lubricants

The miscibility of two oils is essentially linked to the chemical nature of the base oils, but it is not enough for two oils to be miscible in the physical sense of the term, i.e. for their mixture to remain clear in all proportions and not be accompanied by phase separation. It is also necessary to check that the mixed oils remain compatible in terms of their lubricating properties, even in the presence of a polluting agent such as water.
