The aim here is to replace metal or concrete structures, to reduce maintenance (regular painting of metals), and to create lighter but nonetheless rigid and durable structures, offering long resistance to weathering or aggressive products.

Electrical poles and towers: pultruded sections can be used to erect electrical towers, even at great heights, thanks to their high rigidity and electrical insulation.
Various companies sell GRP electricity or telephone poles, which can replace heavy, difficult-to-install concrete poles.
The good dielectric properties of these poles eliminate the need for grounding.
They are made by centrifuging with chromium-plated steel molds to obtain a very smooth finish directly. They can also be made by filament winding.
