5. Protection and coatings

Before describing schematically the various coatings that can be used in practice, and the processes associated with them, it is useful to specify the various degradation phenomena of metallic materials that can be encountered at medium and high temperatures, in order to make the optimum choice. The alloys described above are in fact susceptible to several types of corrosion, as shown in figure 33 .
