5. Conclusion
To date, there is no satisfactory solution for the use of antifouling coatings. Research based on the use of biocidal molecules is losing momentum. Regulations prohibit the promotion of "organic" antifouling. Regulatory and industrial constraints are therefore directing research towards coatings that inhibit the adhesion of organisms thanks to their physical surface properties. However, their effectiveness in an environment as complex as the marine environment remains to be optimized. Hybrid strategies associating various strategies are being sought. In addition, their harmlessness to the environment remains to be demonstrated.
