2.1 Hydrolysis

Hydrolysis is a staged process. It is therefore generally impossible to stabilize unless it is autocatalytic.

In the case of certain polyesters with carboxylic acids at the chain end, the latter can play a doubly unfavorable role: by increasing hydrophilicity and catalyzing ester hydrolysis .
