1.1 Arrangements

Organized mesoporous silicas are inorganic materials obtained by a sol-gel process in the presence of a surfactant (cationic, neutral or anionic), giving rise to a periodic organization of the amorphous inorganic matrix around ordered organic mesophases. . The driving force leading to this organization is the condensation of inorganic precursors (e.g. tetraethoxysilane, TEOS) in interaction with surfactant micelles (e.g. cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, CTAB).
