1. Why and when to degrease a metal surface?
Given the diversity of the industrial sectors concerned, we will give a general definition of degreasing:
Chemical or electrolytic treatment to render the surface physically clean, to ensure that subsequent operations run smoothly and thus guarantee the quality of the finished product.
Because the quality of any surface treatment (ST) depends on the physical and chemical characteristics of the surface on which it is to be applied, degreasing is a key operation in the manufacturing process.
