9. Conclusion
Despite appearances, the degreasing of metallic materials is not simply a matter of cleaning, but increasingly a key factor in the success of subsequent operations. The aim of this operation, when it precedes a wet surface treatment, is not only to remove surface grease and oil, but also to convert a soiled and generally hydrophobic interface into a hydrophilic one.
While the implementation of this treatment may prove complex in some cases, particularly where environmental constraints are concerned, judiciously managed, it will help avoid certain major malfunctions and limit untimely discharges.
