3. Workshop controls for cast iron production

To ensure the quality of cast iron production, it is essential to check that each of the operations leading up to the supply of liquid cast iron to the molding shop has been carried out. This section does not cover quality control of metal charges, weighing and safety instructions. We present the workshop controls which make it possible to adjust the temperature and metallurgical quality of the cast iron as required just before the parts are cast, and in any case to prevent these non-compliant parts from entering the finishing circuits. Non-conforming liquid cast iron can usually be recycled as is or after ingot moulding, which is preferable to remelting scrap parts.
