1. Physical properties

These include density, modulus of elasticity at room temperature, coefficient of expansion (between 20 and 100°C, 20 and 400°C or 20 and 600°C, depending on conditions of use), thermal conductivity at room or hot temperature, and thermal mass capacity at 20°C. All known values have been compiled, together with the corresponding heat treatment and hardness level for each steel:

  • alloy steels for cold working (table 1 );

  • alloy steels for hot working (table 2 );

  • high-speed steels (table 3 ).
