8. Electrical applications

The electrical sector is undoubtedly one of the most successful industrial applications for metal foams.

8.1 The benefits of foams

The aim is to take advantage of the product's large specific surface area, with mechanical strength being a secondary consideration. For these applications, the foams used have small cells and low relative density. The materials used are also specific and directly related to the applications: copper, nickel and even silver are used.
