Battement du champ d'ondes de Bloch ; Beat pattern of the Bloch wave field

In dynamic theory, in the two-wave approximation and at Bragg incidence, for a given family of crystal planes, two types of Bloch waves of close wavelength predominate, producing an intensity oscillation in the crystal corresponding to a beat pattern of the Bloch wave field with depth z (of spatial period ξ g ). This explains why the image of a dislocation tilted with respect to the crystal surface, or that of a stacking fault, shows intensity oscillations or intensity contrast oscillating with z.
