Biological soil improvement is the technique of the 21st century. It no longer considers soil as an inert material, but as a living ecosystem.
Among these techniques, biocalcification will be particularly developed.
1.1 Overview of biosol techniques
Several types of biosol are currently being researched. Two strategies in particular have been developed:
the first involves increasing the number of bacteria in the soil by adding external bacteria (bioaugmentation);
the second is the stimulation of existing bacteria (biostimulation) by inducing their growth in situ.
