4.1 Introducing the jet grouting technique
The jet grouting technique was first used in the oil industry in the 1950s to reinforce the walls of a deep borehole. The injection technique used at the time involved drilling with water, breaking up the soil and increasing the diameter of the initial borehole to the desired depth, then injecting a cement grout by filling the borehole with a mixture forming a soil/cement column.
