6.1 Stereoscopic visual rendering

Many visual interfaces offer stereoscopic vision (3D images). It is often perceived as easy to use, but remains a tricky technique to exploit correctly in certain situations. It is a source of visual constraints for some people, even making it impossible to merge the left and right image pairs.

This involves creating two slightly different images, one corresponding to the right eye and the other to the left. The stereoscopic image pair is either displayed on two screens close to the eyes (as in the case of headsets), or on a single screen (CAVE, etc.), with each eye seeing only one of the two images thanks to a technical device.
