6. Military applications for thermal imaging cameras
The applications have been classified, for each of the 3 weapons, according to operational functions:
mobility: for piloting and navigation assistance;
observation: to obtain information while remaining at a safe distance;
for target recognition, or better still, target identification, before firing, to avoid fratricide or surgical strikes on pre-identified targets. Finally, for target designation during weapon guidance.
Table 2 summarizes the main existing applications.
