2.1 Optical microwave links

The first function that can be realized from active laser source and photodetector components and optical fibers is the optical link. Table 9 shows examples of optical microwave links, with respect to their main performance characteristics, namely bandwidth, Spurious Free Dynamic Range (SFDR) and full link gain, i.e. possibly including pre- and/or post-amplification.
