5.1 Natural antioxidant extracts: definitions and production methods

Manufacturers are faced with a major public health issue, namely the use of synthetic products in cosmetics. The various public health problems caused by synthetic molecules and the lack of data on long-term toxicity are leading to a reduction in their use. With this in mind, natural antioxidants are being incorporated into formulas to offer safer products, or at least to reassure consumers.

These natural antioxidants can be found in the form of extracts (complex chemical composition) or pure compounds.
