A disease of the pilosebaceous follicle characterized by shiny skin, dilated pores and the presence of blackheads (comedones) and whiteheads (microcysts). The inflammatory form corresponds to bacterial proliferation (Propionibacterium acnes) inside these blackheads and whiteheads.
