ABSTRACT
The development of chemical reactions with limited environmental impact has become a priority for chemists. Catalysis and atom economy are essential in order to achieve green chemistry. The redox isomerization reaction which allows for the conversion of allylic alcohols to saturated carbonyl compounds is catalyzed by an organometallic complex; it is 100% atom-efficient as substrate and product are isomers (same gross chemical formula). A judicious choice of catalyst allows for the development of efficient synthetic methods which are alternatives to the sequential redox process traditionally used.
