1. Main organic fluorinated compounds

Organic compounds containing one or more fluorine atoms represent a large family of products that have found applications in many fields [1] to [3] .

  • The most important compounds are the chlorofluoroalkanes, whose production and consumption are undergoing radical change, following the discovery that some of them are involved in the destruction of stratospheric ozone.

At the end of the 1980s, the 4 most widely consumed products, mainly used as refrigerants, plastic foam blowing agents, aerosol propellants and solvents, were :
