3. Two-phase fluid reactors
This term covers reactors in which either a gas phase and a liquid phase, or two immiscible liquid phases, are present.
-
The first category includes numerous industrial applications, such as oxidation and hydrogenation in the liquid phase, or absorption of a gas by a liquid with chemical reaction. These include
amine treatment of natural gas to remove H 2 S and CO 2 ;
removal of CO 2 from synthesis hydrogen by washing with soda or amines;
absorption of nitrous vapors during nitric acid production.
