5. Reactors for solids processing
Reactions between a fluid (mainly a gas) and a solid play a major role in materials production technology: metallurgy, cements, combustion, refractories, etc. Typical examples are the reduction of iron oxides, the roasting of pyrites and the combustion of coal.
