2. Normative framework

For companies that develop, supply, install and maintain software, ISO's international experts have defined guidelines for the application of ISO 9001. The difficulty in implementing this standard lies in the fact that the text currently in force (international standard) is based on the 1994 version of ISO 9001. The updated 2000 version of ISO 9001 is currently under development. For this reason, it cannot be used as a reference for our assessment mission.

In this case, it was necessary to focus on the company's processes. In terms of software engineering processes, within the ISO normative framework, we have two international standards currently in force:

  • ISO/IEC 12207: process repository (model) ;

  • ISO/IEC 15504: software process evaluation (process).
