5. ISO/IEC/IEEE 12207 standard
5.1 Context
ISO has developed a generic standard for IT projects: ISO/IEC 12207, Lifecycle Processes. It was first published by AFNOR in November 1995 (classification index Z67-150).
Long before the 2000 version of ISO 9000, this standard breaks down life cycle activities into processes. This standard relates to life cycle processes in general, and not to a specific life cycle. Because of its broad scope, from software acquisition to operation and maintenance, this standard concerns all those involved in information processing, including non-computer specialists. Today, it is the reference quality model for software-related processes.
A new version of ISO 12207 was published in February 2008. This second edition replaces the 1995 version....
