4. ISO 9000/ISO 9001 standard

4.1 Context

The ISO 9000 family of standards is an international standard which defines the standard requirements for implementing a quality management system (QMS). This is a generic standard: it has not been written specifically for IT-related activities. It is applicable to any organization, whatever its field of activity.

Increasingly, these quality standards are combined with one or more other specialized standards to form integrated management systems (IMS). This is notably the case with the environment (ISO 14001), occupational health and safety (ISO 45001), information technology services (ISO/IEC 20000-1) and information security (ISO/IEC 27001).
