INTRODUCTION
In a first article [H 2 284], we focused on the formalism of data transmission protocols. In this article, we explain the reference model, which provides a clear understanding of the operation and functions of protocols. Then, in three paragraphs, we will describe data transmission protocols at the physical, frame and packet levels. Finally, we'll conclude this presentation of data transmission protocols with a look at protocols that are less perceptible but essential to the smooth running of a network architecture: control protocols on the one hand, and management protocols on the other.
