6. Transmission chain

In this chapter, we present the transmission chain, i.e. all the operations performed on a block of data, without going into the protocol mechanisms used to manage this transmission.

A block of data at the input is called a transport block. We apply an error detection code, a turbo correction code and decide on a particular modulation (figure 22 ).

6.1 Conveyor channels

Depending on the quality of the radio link, the base station decides on a transport format, i.e. the type of modulation (QPSK, 16-QAM or 64-QAM ) and the coding rate. The radio resource control process decides on the number of RBs to allocate for the stream in question,...
