4. Conclusion
Since the 1990s, the capacitor market has been largely driven by the development of nomadic and connected objects, which require ever greater miniaturization. Undoubtedly, it is the multilayer ceramic capacitor that best lends itself to this development and, aided by the development of BME technology, has taken a dominant share of the market. For the most part, this has been at the expense of film capacitors, which are not only difficult to miniaturize, but also poorly suited to surface transfer, which is now the norm for most applications.
The race for miniaturization is set to continue, with the result that equipment operating temperatures are set to rise, hence the search for new dielectric materials that are less dissipative or capable of withstanding higher operating temperatures with the same level of performance.
