1. Equipment design and definition

A hydroelectric scheme includes :

  • a water intake in a river or reservoir ;

  • feeder structures ;

  • a production plant ;

  • return to the watercourse ;

  • an energy evacuation line ;

  • site access.

Hydraulic equipment is defined after a series of studies designed to determine the best investment to make use of the hydraulic reservoir. While the cost of these studies should remain modest (10 to 15% of the project), they should minimize economic risks.
