2. Assimilate any cavity to a short-circuited line
Previous developments showed that the propagation of a TE mn (or TM mn ) mode in a waveguide could be confused with the properties of a virtual transmission line. The aim of this new section will be to extend the analogy to the case of parallelepiped-shaped cavities, now assimilated to a virtual line short-circuited at both ends.
The text is divided into two distinct parts. The first part deals with the coupling of the electric monopole immersed in the cavity. The concepts of optimal coupling, coupling coefficient and equivalent electric circuit discussed above will be extended to this case.
The second part deals with the calculation of the electric field generated by a source tuned to the cavity's fundamental resonance frequency.
